Ananyaa Bhowmik is a neurodivergent and queer freelance journalist and independent scholar. She received her MPhil degree from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, in 2022. Her areas of research and academic interest focus on and around Canadian indigenous and diasporic history, the trajectory of the trickster across literatures of different cultures, queerness in media, and fandom studies. As a journalist, she mostly covers business, lifestyle, and pop culture beats. She also has a background in content marketing and has been working as a content creator, editor, and manager for over a decade now. She is a published author, spoken word poet, and an animal rescuer who is a parent to seven cats and one plant. Her pronouns are she, her, he, him.

The Columbian author passed away in 2014, after decades of stunning the world with magical realism — the literary device most associated with him and his iconic novel, 100 Years of Solitude. Almost a decade later, Marquez's sons have published his last novel, one he reportedly insisted should be destroyed.
